ORAL EXAMINATIONS for “Reserved Positions”
The oral examinations will start on July 21st, 2021 at 09:30 Italian time (CEST). The candidates are requested to be present or available for on-line connection from 09:00 a.m. (Italian time, CEST). The remote interviews will take place on the Microsoft Teams platform. The candidates are requested to create a MS Teams account and make sure that they can setup an audio/video remote meeting through the MS Teams platform.

Due to the high number of admitted applicants, the exams will last some days, according to the following provisional plan:
The interview will focus on:
- Discussion of the applicant's recent research activities or of MSc thesis work;
- Discussion of research objectives that the applicant would like to pursue in the three years ITEE-PhD program.
Oral examination is intended to assess the suitability of the applicant to pursue scientific research, be it fundamental or applied research. Evaluation criteria concern: background knowledge, synthesis, clarity of language, ability to make connections among interdisciplinary topics in information technology and electrical engineering.
Oral examination includes the assessment of the good knowledge of the English language. For foreign candidates, the assessment will consist in using English as language for the exam. The assessment will conclude with a positive or negative judgment, which is an integral part of oral exam.
The interviewed candidate is required to have her/his passport or ID card at hand for visual identification.
Note: The candidates are requested to exhibit the same identification document (passport or ID card) used for the application
Foreign applicants admitted to the oral exam may ask the Exam Board to be interviewed on Skype ONLY in case they experience issues in connecting to the MS Teams. To this aim, the applicant can write to the ITEE Student Office (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) providing his/her Type ID.

ITEE Program - XXXVII Cycle: due to the very high number of applications, the results of the assessment of the qualifications for the POSITIONS RESERVED to candidates with foreign academic title and to candidates with foreign academic title and foreign residency
will be published on July 12th, 2021, by 16:00 Italian time (CEST).
The oral examinations for such reserved positions will start on July 15th, 2021, 14:30 Italian time (CEST) and shall take place on Microsoft Teams. Further details with the Team code and link will be published on the ITEE web site in due time

Applicants need NOT to contact a supervisor before applying.
Applicants need NOT to submit a research proposal.
Foreign applicants with a MSc degree released by a University abroad apply to the reserved positions with scholarship (see below).
The number and categories of available positions are listed below in this page.
Two positions are reserved to applicants from abroad (see below for requirements).
The selection process will consist of two steps:
- evaluation of CV, publications and other titles of each applicant;
- oral exam (online).
The selection process does NOT require the presentation of a research proposal.
Current MSc students who will gain their MSc degree (or equivalent) within October 31, 2021 can apply.
Application deadline: May 27th 2021 12 p.m. (CET)
Clarification note: The ITEE selection process DOES NOT require the presentation of a research proposal along with the other documents to be sent (after filling the application form by the deadline established in the Call) .
Selection: June-July 2021 (interviews for applicants admitted to oral exam not earlier than July 6th, 2021)

Categories and number of available positions / scholarships for the ITEE PhD 37th cycle
The complete list of available PhD positions includes:
A) positions directly supported by the Federico II University ("institutional positions"):
A1) positions with doctoral scholarships ("generic scholarships"): for 2021, there are two positions reserved to applicants from abroad (see below);
A2) positions without doctoral scholarships.
The research themes of the institutional positions (with or without scholarship) shall be defined by the ITEE PhD Board.
B) positions with doctoral scholarships funded by external companies or research institutions, or by university departments on specific projects ("thematic positions")
For thematic positions, the scholarships are generally related to specific research topics ("thematic scholarships")
The list of thematic scholarships is reported below.
External private or public companies or research institutions may finance further thematic scholarships,
signing specific agreements with the Federico II University.
